綜合外媒報導,俄軍近來正撤軍離開基輔級周邊地區,事發當下約莫有12輛坦克與數十名步兵正撤離諾瓦巴桑,不過他們卻未發現在遠處埋伏的一輛烏克蘭的T-64坦克。從影片可見,在俄軍進入T-64坦克的攻擊範圍後,烏克蘭軍人發動攻擊向俄軍坦克開火,然而砲彈僅擊中坦克身邊的幾名步兵,沒打中目標。
俄軍驚覺埋伏後,隨即朝多個方向發動炮火回擊,現場頓時火光四射,眼見俄軍並未發現自己所在位置,烏克蘭士兵再次發動第二波攻擊,並成功擊中俄軍一輛BTR-82A裝甲運兵車,頓時被擊中的戰車冒出濃厚白煙,炸出橘紅色火光。由於烏克蘭坦克所藏位置相當隱秘,後來即使俄軍發現其隱藏方向,反擊砲火猛烈,仍成功躲過重重砲火並持續奮戰直到援兵抵達現場。

據分析人士指出,這台單槍匹馬的烏克蘭坦克至少摧毀了2輛俄軍裝甲運兵車,在烏克蘭援兵抵達戰場後,他們也發動如雨點般的砲火,狂轟試圖逃離的俄軍車隊,導致多輛俄羅斯坦克被炸成廢鐵,以及多名步兵身亡,損失慘重。儘管軍方目前並未透露伏擊的具體時間,但由俄軍展開撤離行動可得知,約莫於上週發生,因當時大量俄軍展開了撤離行動。
